Note from Your Siouxland Chapter President

Greetings,

After having a long winter, we can now confidently say that summer is here – and construction season is in full swing! Fast approaching is our June quarterly meeting and Industry Builder Golf Tournament which is next Wednesday June 20th. You still have time to register if you are interested in coming to the educational meeting or participating in the golf tournament. It is a great opportunity for networking and a chance to get out of the office and enjoy some sunshine, the current forecast for Wednesday is 84 degrees and partly cloudy! See links below for more information.

As most are aware, unemployment remains low, and finding skilled trade workers continues to be a challenge. The purpose of the golf tournament is to raise funds for funding scholarships of students pursuing degrees in construction related fields of study (professional or technical). This is our contribution to the many efforts that are being made to promote construction related fields and trades. Over the last 6 years, we have raised over $35,000! In the current year, we are on track to raise over $8,000, which is an increase of approximately $1,500 over last year! I am grateful for all the corporate sponsors that support this CFMA event and the golf committee that has dedicated lots of time to make this event happen!

I should also note that effective March 2018, the Siouxland Chapter CFMA has established a permanent scholarship fund with the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation. The goal is to grow the fund with golf tournament proceeds so interest and dividends earned on the balance create an ongoing source of income in perpetuity to fund scholarships in the name of CFMA and the Siouxland Chapter!

Lastly – I want to thank all of membership for their renewals for the 2018-2019 membership year. The Siouxland Chapter had 85% renewal as of April 1st, and we have 93% renewal as of current! That is top of class for our chapter tier group!

Thank you for allowing me to be Chapter President, and to represent a great group of members!
