Topic: “Surety Bond Underwriting – it’s an art, not a science”
Speaker: Jason Gusso co-owns Gusso Surety Bonds, Inc.
Overview: Jason will take you through a brief review of the surety bond product and its role in construction. He will then drill down on the underwriting process in particular, with the desire to de-mystify the process for those in attendance. The presentation will be given in “discussion” format, with questions from the audience encouraged throughout.
Speaker Bio: Jason was born and raised in Sioux Falls in an insurance and surety household. He earned an accounting degree at USD in 1995 and is a CPA (non-active). Jason is currently on the Board of Directors as Finance Chair of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers. He is past Associate Division President of the Associated General Contractors and past Treasurer of the Sioux Falls Contractors Association. One of Jason’s most proud accomplishments is his status as a founding board member of Siouxland CFMA. Jason and his wife live in Brandon and have 3 sons aged 12-19.

Both Jeff and his wife, Glenda, grew up in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Jeff went on to graduate from Mankato State University in 1982. After graduation, he went to work for Crum and Forster in Minneapolis, where he established the foundation of his business insurance knowledge as a Marketing Representative responsible for the North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota agency plant.
Jeff and his family came to Sioux Falls in 1997 when he was recruited by Culbert Davis Insurors – now Holmes Murphy & Associates. In 2013, Jeff accepted a position with Fischer Rounds & Associates in Sioux Falls as a Commercial Insurance Agent and shareholder.
